Huon Aquaculture (Huon) is an ASX listed company and is a vertically integrated salmon producer in Australia. Its operations span all aspects of the supply chain, from hatcheries and marine farming to harvesting and processing, as well as sales and marketing.

Huon started out in 1986 in Tasmania’s picturesque Hideaway Bay, near Dover. Today it is a leading aquaculture business in Australia of both Atlantic salmon & ocean trout, employing over 700 Australians and farming in excess of 36,000 tonnes a year of salmon.

Every year, Huon uses a significant amount of packaging boxes for our domestic and export freight operations and we are seeking responses from qualified suppliers of isothermal insulated packaging boxes that can be used to freight Tasmanian Salmon around the world.

Typically, Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is used in such applications. Huon Aqua is seeking responses from suppliers of both EPS and alternate materials.

Our requirements are:

- To source an ongoing, reliable supply of commercially viable isothermal insulated packaging boxes;

- that meet Australian packaging standards and export airfreight specifications;

- that can be easily transported, handled and stored;

- that meet certain weight, dimension and volume specifications.

Where commercially viable and as soon as practicable, we wish to take an environmentally conscious approach to our packaging, which is inline with Huon’s commitment as a signatory to the Australia Packaging Covenant.
