Tender Description
The Aotearoa NZ Adult Medicine Division (AMD) Committee calls for expressions of interest for a committee member who identifies as Māori but need not be a member of the RACP.
Kaupapa o te Komiti | Purpose of the Committee
The AoNZ AMD Committee aims to support the professional careers of Fellows and trainees of the Division in Aotearoa NZ.
Working with appropriate College bodies, specialty societies and staff in relation to medical education, policy and advocacy, Fellowship, and medical workforce to promote and support the practice of adult medicine in the Aotearoa New Zealand context.
The Committee is seeking to appoint a RACP Fellow or non-member who can bring Kaupapa Māori perspectives supporting equity and improved Māori outcomes.
The Aotearoa NZ AMDC acknowledges Te Tiriti ō Waitangi and the foundational principles of bicultural partnership, participation and protection it guarantees. We therefore commit that all our policies will give consideration to the impact on the wellbeing and mana of Māori as tangata whenua and ensure that these policies uphold the above principles
Takohanga | Responsibilities
The Committee meet up to 4 times a year, of which 1 may be kanohi ki te kanohi | face-to-face in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington. Travel costs are covered in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy. The remainder of the meetings, up to 3 would be via hui-ā-ataata | Zoom.
Most of the mahi will occur during scheduled hui. There is likely to be up to 2 hours of pre-reading required before kanohi ki te kanohi hui, and 1 hour prior to hui-ā-ataata | zoom. Members may be asked to respond to communication out of session.
Paearu Mātauranga, Paearu Wheako | Knowledge and experience criteria
- Previous experience and demonstrated expertise with Mahi mātai rata pakeke | Adult Medicine.
- Understanding the legislative framework, complexity of medical practice and health systems relevant to the AoNZ health sector.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate a mātauranga Māori perspective, to impact current systems and structures.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and equity and to maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards in relation to the role.
- High level communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to build positive partnerships.
- Computer literate with access to a computer.
- Ability and capacity to prepare appropriately and diligently for participation in RACP activities.
- No previous or current professional or personal connections that may give cause for a perceived or actual conflict of interest with the NZ AMDC and / or the RACP.
