Yass Valley Council manages an extensive footpath network throughout the Local Government Area (LGA). Council has received funding under the NSW government Get NSW Active program to construct a footpath and shared cycleway network around Bowning village. The objective of the project is to improve links to key facilities in the village, improve pedestrian safety, and provide improved infrastructure to encourage the community to get active.
The scope of works is detailed further in the tender documents, but generally includes all works required for construction of:
- 486 lineal metres of 3m wide reinforced concrete shared cycle path;
- 1,282 lineal metres of 1.8m wide reinforced concrete footpath;
- A 23m long pre-fabricated steel pedestrian bridge and associate piling and reinforced concrete abutment works;
- Ancillary work including culvert extensions, provision of seating, cycle racks, pedestrian refuges, guideposts, signage, etc.
