Tender ID: 575187
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) invites companies to provide a response to the Request for Tender for the Gurra Gurra Creek Bridge (PN1865) Scour Repair, Contract No. 24C086.
The Gurra Gurra Creek Bridge is a key road network asset on Bookpurnong Road in the Riverland Region between the towns of Loxton and Berri. It forms the main land transport connection between these towns, and ultimately a key connection between the State’s mid-east and the south-east.
The Foxtrot 22 High Flow / Flood Event during 2022 / 2023 caused damage to several Departmental assets, including scour damage around two piers and the northern abutment of the Gurra Gurra Creek Bridge. The floods also caused minor scour damage around the bridge piers and the western abutment of one of the River Murray Flood Plain bridges located on Sturt Highway between Renmark and Paringa. A further consequence of the flood has been the rapid regrowth of weedy / sucker vegetation at two other nearby River Murray Flood Plain bridges.
The objectives of the project are to:
- repair scour on piers to provide scour protection for potential future flood events;
- remove weedy / sucker vegetation from River Murray Flood Plain bridges;
- improve road access in the Riverland region, including the removal of the current restriction for mobile cranes over the Gurra Gurra Creek Bridge; and
- minimise impacts during construction to key stakeholders (i.e. road users, residents, land and business owners and recreational users of the river).
