Tender Details
Tender Description
The Household Chemical Waste Collection Program is a joint initiative of CRJO through participating Councils and the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA). The purpose of the program is to recover hazardous chemical waste from households, including cleaning agents, paints, batteries, fire extinguishers, gas bottles and pesticides.
Canberra Region Joint Organisation (CRJO) is coordinating a regional tender, and contract negotiation process, on behalf of the following 8 Participating LGA:
1. Bega Valley Shire Council
2. Eurobodalla Shire Council
3. Goulburn-Mulwaree Shire Council
4. Hilltops Council
5. Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council
6. Snowy Monaro Regional Council
7. Snowy Valleys Council
8. Upper Lachlan Shire Council
This will include the awarding of an agreement or Contract for the provision of:
- Sixteen (16) Chemical Collection Events as a regional service for Eight (8) Councils.
Although five (5) Councils currently have a CRC (Community Recycling Centre) where most of the items collected during the Household Chemical Cleanout can also be disposed of at the CRC all year around, it is acknowledged by most Councils that the yearly events still collect a significant number of items each year. For example, in 2022 the CRC centres in the CRJO region collected a total of around 100 tonnes of items while the Household Chemical Cleanout events collected 65 tonnes during the 14 events in 2022.
CRJO is looking to deliver this project for an initial delivery period of 4-months. The proposed commencement date will be from 1st September 2024.
