Currawong is situated on the Western Foreshores of Pittwater, accessible only by water, surrounded by a Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and is home to a sheltered sandy beach.

It has a total area of 19.7ha with only 4 ha built on, most of the site is pristine native bushland. The entire site is listed on the State Heritage Register.

Currawong State Park was established in April 2011 for the purpose of environmental protection, heritage, public recreation and eco-tourism. Currawong Beach Cottages is part of the State Park. Currawong Beach Cottages has been managed under a Management Agreement since Currawong State Park was established.

Council is now tendering for the management rights to Currawong Beach Cottages for a term of three (3) years, plus an option for a further two (2) years at Councils discretion.

As this location is only accessible by boat there is a requirement for the successful operator to hold a boat licence at Coxswain Grade 3 level. There is no road access to the site.

The site comprises of 12 properties that are operated as short stay holiday accommodation. The site offers a variety of activities including a small golf course, tennis courts, fishing and a wealth of natural beauty for guests enjoy. The site is a State National Park and therefore has day visitors.

The operating hours for the Reception Office are generally from 8am to 6pm daily, with an after-hours check in service available. There is a residence provided for the Manager, who is required to manage, care and supervise Currawong Beach Cottages 24 hours day, 7 days per week.
